Measure across the garment at the natural waist and double the measurement.
Rise
Measure from the middle of the waistband to where the inseams (legs) meet.

I have been eyeing this skirt for a year and finally purchased it during the sale. Sadly, I had to send it back. There is nothing wrong with the skirt, but for the price I expected it to be more flattering. I love a good basic, but this one is underwhelming.

this skirt fits as pictured and expected. it's a little roomy in the hips and thighs, but sizing down would be snug based on their measurements and not fit as well. i love the elastic waist! it's really comfortable and won't wrinkle when you sit.

Cute but/and? curvy
I have another biased cut patterned silk skirt that I love and wanted one more in plain black and got this one. I love it, but this one definitely emphasizes curves more than my other and more than it appears in the picture. Also, the fabric is very elegant--it's a true silk. This combo makes it a little harder to dress down than I thought, but it's a lovely skirt.
