Yes, these are pricey jeans - that's what I thought to when I saw them for the first time but I instantly loved the look of these jeans. I sized up per Shopbop's notes but that was a mistake as I had a huge waist gap. I think Shopbop listed this as "running small" because I don't think most women are used to this type of denim fabric - it's what denim USED to feel like back in the day. It's not super rigid like a pair of 100% cotton jeans but I think it's more rigid than most people are used to, especially in the days of thin/jegging-type jean material. In terms of fit - I tried a size down and it fits better but I still have a tiny waist gap so I'm bummed and not sure if I should size down once more. To me, these fit more like a relaxed skinny jean but in a good way. The fabric is top notch, along with the distressing details and whiskering. Still thinking if i should size down or try a different style from this brand. So far, I like this brand based on this version I tried
