Founded in 2015 by Matt Scanlan and Diederik Rijsemus, Naadam womenswear, menswear, and accessories are created with a focus on providing environmentally sustainable apparel. After spending a month living with a traditional herding family, the friends launched a Kickstarter in 2013 with the idea of selling Mongolian-made cashmere sweaters and using a portion of the proceeds to aid the herders. The wool and cashmere fibers used for Naadam apparel are sourced from the Zalaa Jinst white goat, which is known for its long, delicate coat. Using these long, fine fibers means that Naadam sweaters pill significantly less than traditional cashmere sweaters, allowing the pieces to be worn and cherished for years.
