A great day to evening dress
I needed an elegant dress for a day to evening business event. This fits the bill in every regard. The fabric is very nice, the construction is high quality and Made In USA!! Best of all Shopbop's speedy delivery saved the day.
It is business appropriate in terms of coverage but still looks modern. I am 5'2" with an hourglass figure and normally wear a 2 or 4. The 4 fits great as this is a very fitted style but has some ease in the hip area. I am happy with the length.

sizes do run small
I have a couple of Barry's in S and they fit loosely so I decided to try this one in XS. Well it was too small. I often wear XS in other brands. I wish the S was a bit smaller but the XS, while it buttons without any pulling, it just looks wrong for this shirt. So follow the advice on this Barry cut for sizing.

Great Dress but not for summer
I ordered this dress in the 4 but received a 2. Surprisingly it fit, although if I wanted to keep it I would have tried the 4 to compare. The dress is well made and elegant. The fabric is substantial and it is lined. All good things, but unfortunately since I live in Phoenix, I would be limited to wearing this for probably 3-4 months of the year. It is just too heavy. It would be great as a 3 season dress for colder climes. The only other comment I would make is that is has an odd slit pocket (like the kind you see in dress pants) in the back on one side. For the life of me I cannot understand why. If the dress had worked otherwise the pocket would not be a deal breaker but still, I think it is an odd design feature in what is arguably not a casual dress.
